RHP Law Group Hosts 1st Caregivers Summit

LEWISBURG – In keeping with the firm’s commitment to the community RHP Law Group hosted, along with co-sponsor Evangelical Community Hospital, a one half day Caregivers Summit on Saturday, October 31st at the Country Cupboard in Lewisburg. Presenters included Dr. Linda Rhodes, Former PA Secretary of Aging, Attorney Kenneth Potter, Member of RHP Law Group, Dr. Michael Donegan, Medical Director of Emergency Department at Evangelical Community Hospital, and Dr. Victor Vogel, Director of Breast Medical Oncology/Research at Geisinger.

Dr. Linda Rhodes, author of The Essential Guide to Caring for Aging Parents, offered expert advice, resources and practical tips for caregivers on how to navigate health and elder care, manage the emotional terrain of caregiving and handling the basic legal and money matters. Attorney Kenneth Potter offered insight into the legal aspects of caregiving and end of life planning. Dr. Michael Donegan spoke about real life situations which he has encountered throughout his medical career and ways to prevent common issues. Dr. Victor Vogel, author of Doctor, What if it Were Your Mother?: Hope, Faith and Reason at the End of Life, presented on how to support and sustain patients and their families through troubling emotion, grief and loss and identified skills to help all of us die with grace, hope and dignity.

Representatives from Hospice of Evangelical, UCP/Capital Home Care, Diversified Construction, Inc., LIFE Geisinger, Lifeline, Home Instead, SUN Home Health & Hospice, Crystal Holistic Health, The Educators and the Standard Journal offered expert advice and information to the attendees.  RHP Law Group is currently planning the next Caregiver Summit for the fall of 2017 and is encouraging the community members to contact them at (570) 743-2333 or through the website www.rhplegal.com to suggest program content for the 2017 Summit.
